Our long term supporters would no doubt notice a slight change in the naming of this event. So what's with that? Well when we started planning our 2012 event, we took a step back and looked at everything that had brought us to this point, and looked forwards in to the future and decided it was a good time take a big breath, refocus and reshape our objectives slightly and the festival re-brand was part of this. Earth Freq was always a short way of saying Earth Frequency, a bit of a play on words .. but we decided we liked the longer more articulate version better! And so from now on the website is www.earthfrequency.com.au and we'll refer to the event as such, but of course we won't mind if some of our regulars still call it Earth Freq :)
Aside from the name change, we are also focusing on some new areas this year - specifically broadening our range of live music - there's so much awesome live music in the S.E.QLD / N.NSW region and we love mixing up the vibes. Expect to see more reggae, world music, dub, folk and hip-hop. Arts is a big focus too - with the launch of our visionary arts wing Harmonic Spaces this year, more international arts tours on the way and our first year running an Arts Grants program. We're also doing some planning and partnering to go deeper with our sustainability strategies and we look forward to bringing you the news about this soon.
But everything you know and love about Earth Freq is still going to be there, and continue to be developed in the coming years. The support for this event seems to just keep growing, and we're all extremely grateful for that. Thank you all for your continued support and for making this such a special festival ♥
