Attention music producers! 2 of our headlining international acts - Ill Gates and Robert Rich - will be delivering audio workshops at SAE venues across the country.

This is your chance to spend an evening with a master producer.

ill.Gates is a Toronto-based composer, performer and educator. Over the past 16 years, he has established a global fanbase and a reputation as one of the most dynamic electronic music artists around. Many of his contemporaries cite ill.Gates as a key artistic influence and inspiration in their music. While on tour, Gates frequently teaches workshops to grateful and attentive audiences, in which he shares his highly effective approach to producing quality finished music as well as insights into the mentality and strategies necessary to succeed in the music business.

Robert Rich has designed sounds for films, including Pitch Black, Crazy Beautiful, Behind Enemy Lines, Dead Girl and others. He has scored documentaries and ads, collaborated with artist Daniel Colvin on the DVD Atlas Dei (2007), and created music for Michael Somoroff’s video installation Illumination (2007). Rich’s sound design has graced preset libraries for Emu, Seer Systems, Camel Audio, WayOutWare, Sony, Big Fish and Izotope. He wrote software for composers who work in just intonation, and helped develop the MIDI microtuning specifi cation. As mastering engineer, he has applied his ear to hundreds of albums in all styles, from classical to noise, pop to hip hop and in-between. In this master class, Robert will take you through his techniques and tips as a successful Sound Design Engineer.
