Louisa Magrics

Louisa Magrics is an award winning interdisciplinary artist based in Newcastle, Australia. Specializing in large-scale crocheted installations, her work explores the poetic and aesthetic relationships between music and math. Engaged with collaborative art making practices for over a decade as a drummer, this background in rhythm and performance has laid the foundation for a fertile exploration into visual art and installation practices. Louisa was featured in Vivid Sydney 2018, and she is currently studying a PhD in philosophy of Fine Art at the University of Newcastle. Her research explores the relationships between rhythmic sequences and crochet forms. "Louisa Magrics could easily crochet a brand new galaxy." - Jill Stowell, Newcastle Herald
