Urban mythology, dissident philosophy, and dope beats. We tell stories of a subtropical metropolis peppered with musings on colonialism, xenophobia and Brisbane's buried past. Political poetry meets classical piano and a funk rhythm section. Spoken word/hip-hop/folk flavoured with river-mud and burnt flags. Rivermouth is unashamedly political. Our songs explore a range of themes including local identity, radical activism, love, grief, anarchism, multiculturalism and environmentalism. An evolving and experimental project, Rivermouth continually seeks to redefine the relationship between spoken word and music. We've played shows across the country, from Woodford Folk Festival to Red Dirt Festival in Alice Springs. We (finally) released our first full-length album, Subtropical Metropolis? in 2021, and we're excited to share our latest tunes with the world.
